San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, Bizkaia

Entre Bakio y Bermeo, en un saliente de los acantilados y unida a tierra por un puente de dos arcos, se halla esta ermita, una de las más impactantes del litoral peninsular. El edificio data del  s.IX  y tres siglos después pasó a ser un convento, destruido en varias ocasiones a causa de incendios y guerras, se reconstruyó por última vez a finales del siglo pasado. El encantador edificio corona una peña accesible por unas escalinatas serpenteantes que salvan un estrecho istmo. Dentro de la ermita se pueden observar numerosos exvotos que acreditan el fervor de la gente marinera por esta ermita  que pudo ser de origen templario. Tampoco en su larga historia se libró de los ataques corsarios. Su riqueza paisajística y natural, junto con la belleza del lugar, han hecho que haya sido declarada Monumento Natural.
