Quejana, Araba

lala  El conjunto monumental de Quejana forma parte de los núcleos diseminados del bucólico valle de Ayala, presidido por el torreón medieval de esta familia. Dentro del complejo de edificios de Quejana destacan también el convento dominico y la capilla de la Virgen del Cabello, una joya del arte gótico del s.XIV, en cuyo interior hay un pequeño tesoro del arte funerario, los sepulcros del canciller Ayala y su esposa Leonor de Guzmán, tallados en sendas estatuas yacentes de alabastro. El retablo de la capilla, otro tesoro del gótico, es una copia del original realizada a finales de los años 50 después de que el original terminara en el Instituto de Arte de Chicago. Una excursión muy recomendable es la que nos lleva al cañón de Delika, donde el río Nervión brota desde la sierra Salvada formando una espectacular cascada.
