Entre los muchos pueblos de la comarca de Baza, Galera es uno de los que reúnen un mayor conjunto de viviendas en cuevas, que se multiplican en los cerros alrededor de su caserío. La cercanía de una vega ha aportado riqueza a este pueblo que cuenta con un puente de hierro de comienzos del siglo pasado y una iglesia con un bonito artesonado mudéjar. Un antiguo convento alberga hoy un museo que resume la larga historia del término, desde hace 4.500 años.
