La Morera de Montsant, Tarragona

Una de las fundaciones religiosas más interesantes de Tarragona es este edificio, cuyas románticas ruinas se alzan en un abrupto rincón montañoso del Priorat. El lugar elegido se debe a un pastor que, en su sueño, vio ángeles subiendo al cielo desde una escalera apoyada en un gran árbol. Pese a su abandono, los muros, las ruinas de las casas, los restos de sus claustros y la imponente fachada de la iglesia premiten entrever la importancia que alcanzó la cartuja, una de las primeras que funcionaron en el país. Los monjes trajeron el cultivo de la viña, molinos y agricultura, poblaron los campos e impartieron justicia hasta que llegó el abandono con la Desamortización de Mendizábal. En los últimos años se ha acometido una rehabilitación parcial de algunas zonas, como los claustros y el refectorio y hay visitas guiadas al conjunto.
