Las ruinas de su barrio nazarí lo convierten en parada obligatoria en la ruta de los Pueblos Blancos. El trazado de este barrio, las paredes de sus casas señoriales y sus toscas calles empedradas recuerdan el apogeo de Benaocaz, el siglo XVI, pero su calzada romana acredita un pasado mucho más remoto. El pueblo, con su caserío inmaculado sobre una ladera rocosa llena de cuevas, tiene un Ecomuseo sobre la vida en la sierra de Grazalema desde la Prehistoria hasta hoy.
